The following invitation is from Andrew Cooley:
Abrahamic Initiative "Souper Supper Service" at Saint Marks Episcopal Church.
Starting time: 6:00 p.m. and the service should last about 30-40 minutes.
We do not expect you to help with the meal. We are the hosts and are pleased to serve our guests.
The history of this service is a long standing tradition of going to the Lutheran, Catholic and Methodist churches during Lent. We are pushing the boundaries of ecumenicism back a step with this Honoring Abraham service.
Dan Morgenstern will represent the Jewish Community with a reading, leading a prayer and/or offering a few remarks about cooperation, etc. Much of the service will be devoted to music.
We will sing a congregational hymn: The God of Abraham Praise, the choir will do Ose Shalom and a Sufi piece and we will have a closing hymn as well.
We'll want to do some readings and prayers in between.
